This review will be much shorter than others as I feel this movie did not have much in terms of quality. This movie is what is known as a bottle film and only takes place in one setting throughout the whole movie. This setting is the set of a talk show called “Late night with Jack Delroy,” where the title character named Jack Delroy is the host of a talk show which takes place on Halloween night in 1977. As a movie buff, I didn’t really understand the plot of the movie other understanding that there’s supernatural elements that take place during the talk show in the movie. Off screen, there was a death resulting from one of his guests coughing up blood and later black mucus which caused him to be taken to hospital. The guest is never seen after he is taken away but is pronounced dead halfway through the film. The movie is just basically them trying to figure out what is causing all of these supernatural occurrences with one guest in particular denying that it’s real and saying that it was just done for ratings, etc.
With all of this said, there was one scene I could get behind. Near the end of the film, Jack is seen standing on the stage minding his own business while things around him are blowing up and his guests are dying in violent ways, some even having been decapitated to death, when all of a sudden, parts of the set start moving and the force causing him to fly off the stage in comedic fashion. I feel that what makes this scene funny is his laidback reaction throughout not only as people are dying and there’s thunder lightning, almost an earthquake happening around him which caused him to go flying off the stage. He just stands there as if it’s a casual occurrence and doesn’t show signs of fear for his own well-being as well as the well-being of his guests where the normal reaction would be for him to be scared and nervous for his safety. For a movie that I didn’t like, this was one scene that got a laugh out of me. Other than this one scene, the movie was very poorly thought out.
This movie was thought to have been similar to the 2016 thriller named “Money monster” where George Clooney’s character gets taken hostage live on set of his talk show and he must fight for survival. As the plot of this movie seemed to mirror that, i thought it would be a good movie to see.
Honestly for those people who haven’t seen it, I would advise those people to not waste their money.
