Movie Review: Just Married (2003) seen on DVD and other streaming services
Romantic comedy: some scenes may be unsuitable for young children; sexuality, coarse language
This movie follows a man and a woman, (played by Ashton Kutcher and Brittany Murphy,) who get married despite presumably having some differences. Their problems only get worse when they encounter many problems while attempting to take their honeymoon which in turn presumably threatens their already rocky relationship.
Unfortunately this is one of those movies I only remembering seeing. However, it wasn’t recently that I saw it and I can’t remember certain standout scenes in this movie and I can’t even remember the plot. The only two things I remember is that it stars Ashton Kutcher and Brittany Murphy and throughout this film, they have numerous arguments on where to go for their honeymoon but I can’t remember what the initial cause of the argument was, whether Ashton Kutcher wanted to go somewhere that Brittany Murphy didn’t or vice versa, if one wanted to go somewhere that they could not afford to go but one has to convince the other that it’s not expensive, ETC. Also even though I say they have differences, for all I can remember, maybe they were in love and the honeymoon is what caused them to start fighting. I do seem to remember in this film that I believe Brittany Murphy’s father did not approve of Ashton Kutcher as her husband, he said something and got under her skin as a result and maybe that is what sent them over the edge. The point is that even though I know nothing about this movie, I have seen it and I can remember just enough of it to piece together a review. However, in terns of standout scenes, there was only one that I remember was the scene in which their small car gets covered in snow in the middle of a blizzard. I don’t know how it got there or how they got out but I’m sure it was cause for some sort of argument. Having said that, I’m sure there’s a bit of a romantic joke in this scene. As they are covered in a blanket of snow, maybe Brittany Murphy was supposed to think that the only place she could get warm is with Ashton Kutcher. This is definitely a movie I would have to watch again at some point to be able to understand what actually happened.
You see the problem is that recently I have been unable to live up to my promise that I would write reviews for movies every single day, (which let’s not forget is not a paying job but a hobby that I wish was a paying job since I love it so much,) due to other engagements in my life limiting my ability to watch a movie every single night which means I cannot write a review. This is the first movie review I have written since “Speak no Evil,” (a movie I saw last week,) despite me having every intention to have written as many reviews since the day I saw it. Yet night after night, I get too tired, I’m not feeling well, I have other things to do, ETC. All of the above are excuses I have had to use to go back on what I believe is my responsibility and write the reviews like I said I would. I have become desperate to write any blog that I can think of, even if it was a movie I did not watch before writing it and this movie came to mind. The problem was that I knew just enough about it to properly write the blog and that’s it. At the time of this writing, the entire plot of the movie is something I can’t remember. There’s obviously going to be some scenes that I have forgotten about or some plot points that I got wrong but I knew I had to do something to break the ice as far as my blogs go.
There’s two things I can actually take away from this movie. This is the two main actors in it. I’ve always been a fan of Ashton Kutcher as he has starred in numerous movies that I’ve seen which are listed as rom coms. However, these rom coms are special to me because most of them took place in my childhood back when movies were good.
As for Brittany Murphy, I never really knew her. Unfortunately, the fist time I heard about her was after she died. I had never seen her in a movie before she died. When I found out she died, (I think it was from my mother,) I had to ask who she was. I have seen her in two films since then. There was this one and “Uptown Girls.” I’ve seen “Uptown Girls,” but I remember even less about that movie as I do this one. Therefore, I cannot write a review on that one even if I tried.
I will say this though. If I had to be covered in snow in the middle of nowhere with any girl, she could look like Brittany Murphy, (I don’t want to say Brittany Murphy herself for obvious reasons.) Having said that, the few times I have seen her, she was attractive looking and therefore at least for this movie, Ashton Kutcher was a lucky man.
Even though I scraped to find bits and pieces of legitimacy to this movie, unfortunately my lack of knowledge as it pertains to it will negatively effect the overall review since I had to work harder to come up with as much as I did. I want to make it clear that it’s not because of Ashton Kutcher or the movie itself, (even though I hardly remember it,) it’s simply because I’m not able to rate this movie properly due to not seeing it as much as the other ones.
Stay tuned for the next blog I write which will be a movie that I have seen immediately before writing a review for it. The rating I’m going to give this movie is purely because of Ashton Kutcher’s appearance it which gives it a nostalgic feeling.
Movie rating: 5 out of 10
