Movie Review: Red One (2024) seen in theatres
Comedy/Action thriller: some scenes may be unsuitable for young children; violence, some frightening scenes and images, minor scenes which imply child neglect, intense sci fi elements
This movie stars the Rock who portrays Santa’s helper who must spring into action following the abduction of the big guy in the red suit before Christmas day in order to save the holiday. He teams up with a regular guy who is shown to be clumsy at times and clueless as to what he is supposed to be doing.
I was really looking forward to seeing this movie even months before it was released. At first I did not know if I could possibly sit through the 2 hours that this movie was in progress. I have to say I’m really glad I got to see this movie. I’ve always been a fan of WWE so I think they made the right choice in casting the Rock. Call me a rebel if you must but I have to say that my favourite character in this movie was the evil villain, (I think her name was Gryla.) Those who know me will understand why i believe this is the case. I’m a single guy and she was hot though there is one little bit of criticism I have and this is that of all the characters in the movie, I think she has the least screen time as herself, (she appeared within some creatures in the film.) I feel as though this movie could have incorporated more scenes with Santa Claus as it is supposed to be a Christmas movie but I guess this ties into the plot. I mean, if Santa was abducted, I suppose it would make sense that he would have limited screen time as well. Having said that, I will not allow this to effect the overall rating of this film. There was superb action sequences from the Rock and I cannot forget the sweet visual image of the villain in the movie. She was hot. This movie was a great one despite the negativity surrounding my personal life afterwards. This however does not have any association with the movie. As long as we’re talking about this movie, it will be considered great and would definitely be recommended.
Movie rating: 10 out of 10
