What a coincidence for this to be the question I would be asked today. I was just thinking about this minutes ago. I have to say that I was never really fan of cartoons growing up but in my preteen/early teenage years, I loved Family Guy. I remember that my brothers and I would stay up past our bedtime on weeknights to watch it, (our bedtime was 9:00 p.m.) My mother hated this show because of it’s content, language, and overall subject matter. You could never mention Peter Griffin, Stewie Griffin, or the show in general without her admitting to hating it and calling it stupid, ETC. I do a great impression of Peter Griffin’s signature laugh which my mother used to hate me imitating. This often caused her to suspend the show as a privilege and not allow us to watch it similar to when I first started watching Wrestling. Another thing she hated was when I would bring Peter Griffin, Stewie, ETC, some member of that family into topics of real life as if they are family members. This was particularly ones that pertained to us. For example, at one point I wrote a story about Stewie Griffin getting ill and mom having to give him medicine for his fever. Or there was times when I would directly act as if I was Peter Griffin. There was the aforementioned mocking of his trademark laugh as well as me saying, “Holy crap,” every time I was excited about something similar to the manner in which he acts in the show. Over time, this got on mom’s nerves and she ended up getting rid of the channel it played on as well as getting rid of cable all together at times as I had similar issues with Wrestling as well. I just realized as I’m writing this some 20 years later that growing up, I did not have the greatest choice in tv shows. Most of the things I watched back then were very inappropriate and I say back then because these days, I do not watch tv. I have no shows that generally interest me. Even Wrestling has lost the ability to peak my interest and I almost never watch Family Guy. I use Disney Plus a lot and I think I’ve only seen one episode since I moved into where I currently live three years ago. If I watch anything these days, well everybody knows that I love to review movies on this site. So this is pretty much the extent of my time in front of the tv these days. I mean, I watch the odd Youtube videos, ETC, but for the most part, my day is dominated by doing other things such as using this site as well as getting things done which are more important than tv. That being said, I still really do enjoy Family Guy.
