Movie Review: A Christmas Karen (2024) partially seen on Prime Video
Comedy: not recommended for young children; some abusive language towards children, scenes depicting arrogance and back talk, minor violence towards children, dialogue which is meant to threaten certain people, some racial implications
This movie follows a middle aged woman living in Florida who is shown to be very cranky and rude towards others on her street and community until she is supposedly put in her place by ghosts from her past who change her as she was seen as a human version of the grinch beforehand
I know I say that I need to be able to see a movie in full before I can review it. However, in the months since I’ve started doing this, there have been a few exceptions to this rule where I was able to formulate a proper review on a movie despite not seeing the entire movie. This has been for reasons such as an admired actress and knowing enough about them, (this would have been the case for American Pie Girls Rules,) as the review was basically everything I knew about her as well as the admiration for the things she did in the half hour I had seen the movie, (there was a lot of sex scenes in that movie involving that actress.)
One thing I usually don’t appreciate happening to me is having to turn off a movie or tv show without finishing it as under normal circumstances, (at least where movies are concerned,) I cannot formulate a blog if I have not seen the movie to it’s full extent. Well, I saw only the first five minutes of this movie but in those five minutes, I was able to put together a review on this movie…one which I will never watch again. This movie features a woman who is completely rude and arrogant to those around her. To me, she is the stereotypical example of how rich people act towards those less fortunate. In the first five minutes of this film, I couldn’t believe the arrogance coming out of her mouth. The things she was saying really bothered me. She was demanding to those around her. She was mean to kids for no reason and she does not like waiting on hold for people. So I will be the first to admit that on any given day, she has the same problems as a certain somebody….and that somebody just happens to be the one writing this review. One thing I will give her credit for is the fact that everything she complains about is something that I’ve complained about in the past. This could be poor customer service, having to wait on hold, not respecting some people who are a different culture while downplaying their ability to work in the place due to their culture, ETC. She basically reminds me of myself so this movie was just basically me looking in a mirror through the tv screen. If this is how I act towards people, no wonder I’m always getting in trouble from mom. Also, though I do not know how this movie ends, she either gets a kick in the ass from her mother or something happens to her to make her change her ways. While I don’t condone her actions in the few minutes I watched this movie, I have to give it praise for teaching me a valuable lesson about myself and showing me how I act in public. This movie was an eye opener for me. I still couldn’t believe what I was seeing but it taught me a valuable lesson. If I don’t act right, people will not respect me. Even though this movie was no good otherwise, I will give it a bit of a boost for trying to teach me that what I was doing was wrong. Sometimes in order to see where you need to improve on your mistakes that you’ve made, you have to see things from another person’s perspective. From now on after seeing what I saw in this movie, I will tone it down as it relates to how I treat others. This was by all rights a learning experience for me. With this in mind, it will boost the rating. However, the movie was obviously no good otherwise as I could only stand to watch it for five minutes. Therefore, I still say it was not a passable movie. So the rating will be done having taken everything into account. I hope the next one I watch is better.
Movie rating: 5 out of 10 (which in this case is me being generous as it did manage to teach me valuable life lessons which may help me get better as a person.)
Next movie review: TBD although something on a streaming service
