Movie Review: Mufasa: The Lion King (2024) partially seen in theatres
Animation Drama: some scenes may be unsuitable for young children; emotional moments, some frightening scenes including scenes which depict memories of childhood
The 1994 classic “The Lion King” returns for yet another live action remake of the cartoon movie.
You know normally I would give more of a description of the movie I’m reviewing as this is supposed to be the point of me doing this….to give others who may not have seen movies that I have some insight and my personal opinion of the film in question so they could maybe go and see it for themselves or watch it on a streaming service….whatever way they choose to view it. However, what happens when the movie is so bad that I don’t even have an opinion of it? This has been the case for every installment of this franchise including the cartoon version. The fact is that I wasn’t able to follow it then and I’m not able to follow it now. This cannot be blamed on my young age when the first one came out because even when the made the lived action version of the movie, I could never follow the plot. I didn’t know who was who or who was related to who or even what was going on. The fact is that I know the movie is about lions. The movies go from one plot to another and I have never been able to tell what’s happening. I only know that it’s about lions based on the title. I don’t know why I chose this movie. I think the reason I gave was that it’s a musical and Seth Rogen was in it. I have to be honest in saying that if mom was to accuse me of only going for the popcorn, (something she did for the longest time years ago before I started doing this,) it would be accurate no matter how sarcastic this statement was. This movie was actually really starting to get to me and it didn’t help matters that Chris cried a puddle every single time there was an emotional scene. I really don’t know why he does this. If anything, I should be the one crying as I had spent money on a gift card I got for Christmas, (which thankfully I got replaced with more money on it,) for this movie that I thought would be much better. This is one of the biggest problems I have had. I go to movies without watching the trailer first, (a situation I have rectified to a point,) and when I have no conception of what the movie was about other than the title, this is when mom rightfully and jokingly accuses me of only going for the popcorn and not the movie. Well, this time she would be right as about 15 minutes into this 2 hour long piece of crap, not to mention having to deal with Chris once again not agreeing with the subject matter of the movie as he feels that what is happening somehow effects him, we decided to walk out vowing not to return to the movies until one comes out again that we know we want to see after obtaining new gift cards. On top of all this, at the time of this writing, I’m sicker than a dog. I caught a bad cold/flu that mom had over Christmas, (which is not covid,) and my throat hurts on and off and I have headaches that won’t go away and a cough that comes and goes as well. So I wasted a whole day going all around town to see a movie that I was just going to walk out of on a day that I’m this sick. What a waste of a day. Honestly, I would not recommend this to any healthy person. I’m sorry but to me, this was a waste of time. This may not be the case for those who have children and might have been able to follow the plot and understand what happens but I will never watch any future installment of “The Lion King” ever again. If I don’t understand the plot to this point, I more than likely never will but you know what? That’s ok. I have come to realize that I’m not going to be able to understand every movie I see nor will I be able to give a valid opinion or even a description of it. However, all of the movies that fall under this criteria get the same crappy treatment and you know what that treatment is? Being listed as a complete flop….one that nobody would ever be able to pay me enough to see again.
Movie rating: 0 out of 10
Next movie review: TBD although something either on a streaming service or one of my DVDs. I can promise that it will be better than this was.
