Movie Review: The Husband She Met Online (year of release unknown) seen on cable tv and Tubi
Drama: not recommended for young children; violence, coarse language, brief sexual content, scenes which depict control in relationships, scenes which depict forced marriage, brief scene of animal cruelty and abandonment, scenes which depict arrogance as a result of wealth, some scenes with alcohol abuse, scenes which discuss pregnancy
This movie follows a woman who rushes into a relationship with a man she finds charming at first only to find out that he uses his wealth to get what he wants. The once charming man soon reveals he has a dark side which is shown after the woman tries to end the relationship which he will stop at nothing to maintain even if it means resorting to abuse.
If this sounds familiar, it’s because most of the movies I watch follow this premise…..a woman or a man, (but in this came, it’s the woman,) finds love with someone he/she believes could be the one only for their partner to discover they have a dark side after certain events take place, most of which involve the ex of the person in question. This leads to confrontation towards the end of the movie with the man/woman who displays the dark side getting his/her comeuppance most of the time, (there are some movies where this doesn’t happen and everything returns to normal as if nothing happened to him/her at the end,) either by way of murder or arrest. This one ends with murder as most of these movies do. Very few movies I’ve watched have ended with the bad person living by the end. Having said that, this movie is pretty much the exact same premise as the one I just did a review on titled, “The Girl he Met Online.” Though this movie is similar to that one, it is one of the few movies which ends in arrest for the villain.
As it seems as though I’m repeating myself from having watched so many of these movies, there isn’t really much to say about this one that hasn’t already been said in my previous reviews except for the fact that the villain in this movie reminds me of my high school gym teacher, a man who I am not fond of. However, the actor who plays the villain has pretty much the same complexion as he does. I will say this though. This movie really show off the cliche of “rich man believes he’s in control and can have everything he wants because he’s rich.” cliche. Throughout this movie, he is shown to pretty much screw the system and believes he can control the woman just because he has money. This is a very tired concept and I do believe that I’ve now watched too many of these movies where the premise has gotten repetitive. This is one of the main faults I have where this movie is concerned. It’s nothing new and therefore it’s nothing I haven’t already written about in previous reviews. I think it’s time for a change.
This movie was an absolute waste of time….one where the premise is one that I’m tired of reviewing. I promise there will be a change coming soon. However, this movie was way too predictable and therefore it is not passable at all.
