Movie Review: Flight Risk (2025)

Movie Review: Flight Risk (2025) seen in theatres

Action Thriller: not recommended for young children; scenes which depict law enforcement, strong violence, some gory scenes, mild sexual dialogue and implications, scenes which depict hostage situations, scenes which depict impending vehicular crashes, scenes which discuss death, some medical scenes and implications, minor emotional scenes including dialogue which discusses possible death, hostage scenes throughout, strong coarse language

This movie follows a police officer who flies a suspect in a private jet from Alaska to New York for questioning only to realize that he may not be the only guilty person onboard.

I waited about a month to see this movie which is when I first saw the trailer for it. This movie happened to be released on my best friend’s birthday. We are both fans of Mark Wahlberg who played the pilot in this movie. One thing I like about him is that from what I’ve seen, he can do pretty much any role. So far I’ve seem him in comedies, dramas, and movies where he plays the villain. The casting of him in any movie I’ve seen him in has made the movie must see. There is one little bit of criticism that I have to give this movie though. This is one of those movies where either the conflict within it is predictable or the ending is. Just from seeing the preview enough times prior to seeing the movie, it was clear that he could have been the villain so from that standpoint, that earns a negative mark although it would not effect the overall review of this movie by any means. I really enjoyed the action sequences throughout and I was impressed with how much Mark Wahlberg was able to withstand given how much abuse he took before he succumbed at the end of the movie. I mean, he was shot with flare guns throughout, tasered directly in the neck, tied up in the back of the plane, assaulted by the officer and suspect, and was even unconscious for the better part of the movie only to regain his composure. To me, this made this movie all the more enjoyable. It was one of those heart pounding, edge of your seat thrillers the likes of which I have not seen in years. I have to give this movie credit for actually living up to the hype and being just as suspenseful as they advertised. Normally movies don’t make good on their promise to deliver as much of the intended genre as advertised. For example, a supposed horror movie that would have me screaming and scared throughout never really does even if the movie itself was good and the criticism would lie directly with this fact….the movie was supposed to be a scary one, a comedy, ETC. The lack of those elements would normally constitute a let down for me and this would negatively effect the review. In this movie’s case, I was right into it and I desperately wanted to see how it would end. Therefore, it lived up to the hype and was worth the money paid to see it as a result. Then again, I stand by my earlier comment that Mark Wahlberg makes any movie worth watching. In my last review of “One Of Them Days,” I did something I had never done before and gave it a negative review making it the first movie I have reviewed to receive a rating below 0. I came to this conclusion as the storyline was hard to follow and I didn’t even really know what the movie was about. This got to the point where I fell asleep in the theatre out of boredom. Well in this movie, there was no sleeping. I was wide awake which would indicate that this movie was worth watching. Therefore, I’m going to give this movie the opposite treatment as I did for “One Of Them Days.” Not only is this movie passable and worth watching again, it will be given a better review than normal. Normally the highest I would go in terms of ratings is 10. This would indicate a perfect score in most cases. This movie is not like those other other ones. It surpassed my expectations and it was well worth the month long wait to see it. I hope in the future, I can come across more movies like this.

Movie rating 20 out of 20

If anybody didn’t notice, I gave this movie double what a perfect score would be under normal circumstances. So at this point, everybody has seen a really negative review followed by a more than positive one. Also, everybody should see this movie. It was absolutely incredible!

Next movie review: TBD although some on a streaming service
