Are there any activities or hobbies you’ve outgrown or lost interest in over time?

I can think of at least one activity/hobby that I’ve outgrown over time. For most of my childhood, I enjoyed writing children’s stories in my spare time at school. These stories would either be assigned by the teacher or something I would do if I wasn’t doing anything else. There was one story in particular I wrote in my last year of elementary school called “Please Don’t Squeeze Me.” This story was about the use of ketchup in restaurants which was told from the perspective of the ketchup itself. It’s premise was that the ketchup felt as if it’s life/job was hard, (whatever way the reader chooses to interpret it,) though mainly it was the ketchup was complaining about being squeezed onto food and eaten, put into little packets, ETC. This story caught the attention of my teacher who was impressed enough by it that he personally contacted my mother with a suggestion that it be published. A printed copy of this story was given to my mother but she never got around to getting the process started in terms of publishing it. She has since lost the copy and I can’t for the life of me remember how it was written therefore I cannot rewrite it as good as I did before. As a matter of fact, my whole ability to come up with creative children’s stories such as this one has faded away as I have dealt with problems since then the likes of which had created a situation where children’s stories are an after thought. There was a point where I did not write anything for years owing to the aforementioned problems. I have since tried unsuccessfully to recapture the ability I once had to produce a great story for children but I have been proven to have lost this ability. Stories I write nowadays have a very stale plot and a predictable ending. Having said that, I have replaced one ability for another and even though I cannot produce children’s stories as good as I used to, I now give my honest opinion on movies that I watch since acquiring a place on this site. If you ask me, I prefer this over writing children’s stories. It’s my new favorite thing in the world to write and I will never let this ability go away.
