Movie Review: Paddington In Peru (2025)

Movie Review: Paddington in Peru (2025) seen in theatres

Animation: suitable for all ages; some emotional scenes, minor scenes implying romantic situations

Everyone’s favorite marmalade loving bear from Peru returns in this sequel to the original film which finds him and his newfound human family the Browns embarking on a quest to visit his long lost aunt in Peru only to discover that she is in danger and Paddington and the Browns must do their best to reunite the fun loving bear with his own species.

You know so many times an animated movie comes out and I vow to never see it either because it’s a sequel to an original film that I was not fond of or it’s based on a cartoon that I never cared for when it was on tv. Both of these reasons could be given as to why I vowed never to see Paddington. First of all, I never cared for the show and I saw his first movie and it was a total flop. The problem is that most of the time, (not all of the time,) I end up seeing it anyway due to reasons beyond my control. Well a timing issue with my transportation resulted in me seeing this one but having hated the original one due to lack of care for the whole cartoon as a whole, I didn’t think I would find anything good to say about this movie. I thought for sure it would flop and that it wouldn’t even be worth writing a review as I would have nothing nice to say about it, maybe even nothing at all. If this was the case, it would have been the first movie I have seen since beginning the movie reviews where I did not write a review.

I’ve been accused of having a problem where I tend to see things at face value and I’m really stubborn as far as changing my original opinion on anything. In other words, I have been told that I need to give things/people a chance and that I never know, I may like this movie. Well, in this case, it’s obviously not people but it’s movies. I gave this one a chance and it did not disappoint. Having said that, most of the good points I see from this movie aren’t with the movie itself. For example, I’m a big fan of the British culture. I love that accent that British people have. It makes them very distinguished in their culture. For those who have seen this cartoon and the first movie, everybody should know that the family in the movie is British and I enjoyed that aspect of it. Another thing I enjoyed was the attraction of some of the women in this film. As a matter of fact, if I ever get a girlfriend, I would want her to have that same accent because I really enjoy it.

As far as this movie itself goes, it’s very emotional and had a good message behind it. I believe the message was that it doesn’t matter if you look like your family or not or even if you’re the same species. Family are the people who take care of you and love you the most. Ok so parts of that line were borrowed from “The Spy Next Door,” but that same message can be attributed to this film as well.

For a movie that looked like it could have been nothing, I have to say I really enjoyed it. It just goes to show that I should not judge a book by it’s cover. This movie may have seemed like a flop at first but it turned out to be one that I would recommend to children and even adults. Anyone who enjoys touching and emotional stories should watch this movie.
