Movie Review: The Legend Of Ochi (2025)

Movie Review: The Legend Of Ochi (2025) seen in theatres

Unfortunately, you can add this to the list of movies which I can’t say I have an opinion of. This movie was just an example of me having nothing else to do and therefore deciding to go to the movies despite the lack of anything decent playing, not to mention the even bigger lack of money to go in the first place. I got no enjoyment out of this movie at all particularly because I fell asleep at the beginning of the movie and didn’t wake up until the end. About 10 minutes into this movie, I was so bored that I started daydreaming about other aspects of life before drifting off to sleep. The darkness in the movie itself combined with the darkness in the theatre was enough to warrant me falling asleep. The problem is that this kind of got me in trouble with mom as she bought the ticket for me and since I basically didn’t see the movie, it constituted a waste of money. For the second time in a row, (the first being “Web of Desire,) I have no opinion on the movie which I’m reviewing. I honestly don’t remember the last movie where I had a decided opinion and the problem is that this is the purpose of me writing these reviews, to give others who may not have seen it my opinion on it so maybe they can see it for themselves. Well, I can’t do that if I never have an opinion of it. This just goes to show that from now on, (especially if I’m paying for it,) I need to make sure that I actually want to see the movie I go see so I can review it properly and more importantly, so I don’t fall asleep out of boredom thus constituting a waste of time, money and stress getting to the theatre and back.

Having said all of this, there was one small detail about this movie that I was able to enjoy and this will even boost the rating of it. The creature in this movie was really cute and I think if mom was to see this movie, she might enjoy this aspect of the film. In my opinion, the creature reminds me of one of my mother’s cats. For those of you who are interested, despite my severe allergies to them, I’m a cat and a dog person, particularly small versions of these animals. Though I pretty much fell asleep after the scene in which the creature appears, it’s presence was enough for me to boost the rating. I mean, I owe it to myself and everybody who reads these reviews to come up with something concrete to read rather than always “I have nothing to say about this….it was a waste of money, ETC. So at the very least, I can appreciate the creature in this film if nothing else.

Also, this movie was thought to be similar to E.T. The Extra Terestial in which a little boy befriends an alien. Upon seeing the trailer for this movie, I was brought back to that movie due to it’s similarity. Someone even made a reference to this movie in comparison to that movie.

I have just decided now that despite only small little details about this movie being enjoyable that it should be given a pass. I mean, if nothing else, it provided me a soothing atmosphere which I needed to sleep, (which is something I don’t always get to do when I want to,) and since this movie was about an hour and a half long, that was an hour and a half that I got to sleep uninterrupted. I suppose this was another pass as well, albeit a sarcastic one.

I promise that the next movie I review should have more detail within it other than just the small details. I’ve already made a decision that I would not go to the theatre again until there was something decent on anyway so the next movie I see should be something that I have in my house. Hopefully I will enjoy this one better and I know that the pickings in the movie theatre won’t be as slim forever but I would say that they really need to come up with better movies. In my opinion, it’s slowly getting to the point where I’m just going to the theatre for the popcorn and not for the enjoyment of the movie. In other words, I’m going just to say I went and that’s it. I hope this changes soon but for now, I suppose I can give credit where it’s due.

Movie rating: 20 out of 20
