Our story begins a year after mom has settled into the retirement home. She has made many new friends while enjoying the perks of living where she does and being catered to by the nurses there. Despite her advancing age, she has had the best time of her life. She says she wouldn’t trade her new life in for the world. As far as Megan and I are concerned, we haven’t been so lucky. After my initial regret towards mom being admitted to the retirement home, I have managed to accept it to a point particularly when Megan and I are out in public or getting intimate. She has placed a no intimacy rule on me at times when my grief towards the present situation interferes with our whole day. She did this as punishment for me not accepting her new role as my go to person due to mom’s newfound inability to be that person anymore. That being said, there are still some times where we do get intimate if my behavior holds up in light of the circumstances. As we do not get intimate as much as we used to, we find ourselves going at it a lot harder and more passionately. There was a big problem one night though where this was concerned and this is where our story begins.
Unplanned Parenthood Chapter 1: A Happy Accident By Jefferson Bert
Our story begins the morning after Megan and I had gotten intimate and she has woken up to a surprise. That surprise came in the form of the result of an illness.
“Oh my god. I don’t believe this.” she said
You don’t believe what?” I ask
She shows me her pregnancy test to reveal that it’s positive.
“That is great and people said I would never be able to do that.” I said proudly.
Megan begins pouting. “How could this have happened?” she asked in shock.
“Well we got in bed one night and one thing lead to another. The next thing you know, you have one in the oven. What should we name it?” I ask.
“Don’t be a smart ass. You know why we can’t have kids. We have neither the physical or financial ability to care for one and your mother is not exactly in a situation where she can help us.” Megan said.
“I know things look bad now but this is one of those situations where we have to take the positive out of it. Did it feel good when the deed happened? Are we both sure that neither one of us will commit infidelity on the other? Am I the best boyfriend you’ve ever had with the greatest package that you wouldn’t trade for anybody else?” I said in an attempt to cheer Megan up.
“Yes it did but I never expected it to happen like this. Our child is going to be taken away if we’re not careful.” Megan replied.
“Listen to me. What you’re going through is completely normal for a mother who is young and about to conceive. It always starts with regret and there’s a lot of hoops to just through but trust me it’s worth it when the baby comes. It’s a good thing we’re doing. Because of us, a new life will start and one day, our child will grow up and have us to thank for his or her ability to live happily. We created something wonderful. I know it’s a lot to handle but this isn’t a bad thing.” I explained.
“You wouldn’t understand what I’m going through and you’re blind to the situation. We have no money to feed it or buy it what it needs or put it through school. Sure this sounds pleasant but if we can’t provide for our child, it makes me feel like a failure as a parent.” Megan said.
“All of what you described is the same stuff mom had to go through when giving birth to us. There were times when I’m sure she felt she couldn’t afford it or had the means of providing for us but she never let us down. She figured out how to make it work and look at me. I wouldn’t be standing here with you right now if it wasn’t for mom getting pregnant with me. Once I was born, it was all worth it as far as mom was concerned. Speaking of mom, she’s wanted a grandchild for as long as I can remember. Do you honestly think that she is going to let us suffer? She knows what we don’t have and if this means our child has to spend more time with grandma then so be it. Also, this may make her happy as she once again gets to relive one of the happiest moments in her life. She’ll get to raise that baby the same way she raised the three of us. In a way, it’s a gift for mom.” I explained happily.
“Thank you. I feel much better than I did earlier. It’s just that what if she can’t? What if her situation worsens to the point where she can’t raise the baby. What’s going to happen to it then?” Megan asked.
“Listen Brad works right where mom lives. He’ll be happy to look after our baby if and when mom is proven to not be able to anymore.” I say
“There you go again. You’re trying to pin our stupid mistake on members of our family. Have you ever once considered how I feel about not being able to care for my own child?” Megan said. This may sound harsh but I need some time alone. I’m really upset. Not at you. At this situation.” Megan said as she begins sobbing out of grief.
As I fully understood what Megan was going through, I knew she just needed some time alone so I granted her that time without thinking it was because of me or pushing the conversation any further.
A couple of hours later, she came out of the room. “Ok I’ve calmed down now and taken a nap. I just don’t know what to do about this.” she said.
“Come sit down next to me. Why don’t we watch some tv?” I suggest.
Megan comes and sits down next to me and after giving her a comfort kiss, we watch tv quietly until we got a knock at the door.
“Hello sir. I’m from the police department.” The guy at the door said.
“Is there a problem officer?” I respond
“I’m sorry to say there is. One of your neighbours reported that your wife is pregnant. Are you both disabled?” the officer asked
“Yes we are.” we both reply
“”Maybe you’re unaware of this but a new law was passed where disabled people cannot be parents due to the proposed situation most of them finds themselves in where they are unable to care for them due to physical and financial restraints. Unfortunately, it appears as though you fall into that category of people and this puts me in a bad situation but the law says if you don’t find a suitable place for the baby before he or she is born, you will be forced to abort the pregnancy. I’m sorry sir but this is the law.” The officer explained
Just then Megan looks at me. It appears she had previously heard about this law and had forgotten to tell me or maybe she thought I already knew.
“Thank you for letting me know officer. No need to apologize. You’re just doing your job but as it turns out, we do have a suitable place for our child. Our baby will be left in the permanent care of my mother and brother. My brother works at a retirement home where my mother is a resident. They would love to care for the baby. I’ll just give you the number so you can call and make the arrangements.” I reply.
“Unfortunately I can’t do that. This is your responsibility and if I were you, I would act fast because if the baby is born before you’re able to make the arrangements, it will be aborted by force. You have a nice night now and the next time you get intimate, please do be careful. You seem like nice people and I don’t want to keep coming back here.” The officer said as he leaves the house.
“Do you see what you’ve gotten us into?” Megan screams.
“Relax Megan. Do you think mom or Brad is going to let their nephew or grandchild be taken away? Just let me handle this. I’ll call the retirement home tomorrow and I promise you our baby will have a safe place to lay his or her head once he or she is born. Just don’t worry about it for now.” I say.
“Ok I trust you but I hope you know what you’re doing.” Megan said.
“I would never let you down and every relationship is built on trust anyway. Please trust me. I know this looks bad now but I promise you we will get through it.” I say.
Megan kisses me good night before we both go to bed.
