Movie Review: Bad Sister (2015)

Movie Review: Bad Sister (2015) seen on tubi

Thriller; not recommended for young children; violence, nudity sexuality, coarse language, minor drug use

This movie follows a woman who poses as a nun at a catholic school and quickly becomes obsessed with one of her students, (played by Devon Werkheiser,) who is an aspiring musician after hearing one of his songs.

I just realized now that it has recently become a common theme for me to watch movies which follow the “psycho man/woman falls for the main character only to be turned down as the psycho man/woman (but in this case, it’s a woman,) is in a position of authority over the main character. Of course, this doesn’t stop the psycho man/woman from eventually hooking up with the main character and upon still being rejected, the psycho man/woman goes on a violent rampage and kills those closest to the main character until he/she is eventually caught and arrested or murdered by the end of the film as everything goes back to normal,” trope. Well, this trope has perfectly described the last few movies I’ve watched including this one so I really don’t see the point in discussing standout scenes as I have already done so in my last couple of reviews. However, one thing that makes this movie different from others I’ve seen is what drew me towards this movie. Usually when I watch a movie like this, I’m drawn into it by the hot actress who is in it especially if I know of any romantic scenes. This movie was no different as the actress, (while not exactly what I would consider to be hot,) had some good scenes, I was drawn to this movie by Devon Werkheiser who played Ned Bigby in “Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide.” This was the first movie/tv show I have seen him in other than that show and I have to say that his character was much different than the one he portrayed in that show. He is shown to drink alcohol in this movie and disobey his parents and he shows a more aggressive side to himself…one that I’m not used to seeing from him. However, it was nice to see him in a different character for once. As for the ending of this film, given that this film follows the same formula as previous ones I’ve viewed, it was very predictable and I was just waiting for the end when the woman would either be arrested or murdered. I knew it would be one or the other and while this would normally negatively effect the rating for this movie due to the exact same trope basically being recycled with new characters/storylines and nothing out of the ordinary being presented, this movie is different. Since this movie got creative by adding in an actor who is not known by me to be violent or aggressive, I will say that I really enjoyed this film and I have to give it props for it’s casting of Devon Werkheiser. It was a nice change…one that helped boost the rating of this otherwise predictable and tiresome movie. This is another thing. I want to try and incorporate more movies with different genres into my selection process. I’m going to do something I don’t normally do right now…I’m going to end this review by announcing the exact movie I will be watching and reviewing tomorrow as these reviews should be done nightly from now on.

Movie rating: 10 out of 10
