Well I don’t have a pet of my own. However, my mother does. She has two cats one of which I’m very fond of. I’ve actually always wondered what cats or even dogs would say if they were able to speak. Also I wonder how they would view their masters. I’ve always wondered if mom’s cats would view her as their mother and believe that when they’re cuddling with her if they think of themselves as babies and how they would address her if they were able to talk. I also wonder if they know people’s names and would acknowledge us by our names if we were able to talk. I will say that my first name is Jeff so when the cat addresses me, he would likely say “Hi Jeff,” or something to that effect. I also have a tendency of believing that cats should have the awareness that humans do of what’s going on around them. Sometimes I will try to explain things that happen around me to cats as if they should be aware of what I’m talking about. An example of this would be explaining that you have to pay for certain things, ETC. Often times as a joke, I will accuse the cat of being lazy as all he does is sit around and do nothing to contribute to the household expenses including making mom, (or as I put it, our parents when discussing this with my step brother as I’m not sure who does the primary shopping in the household,) pay for his food and that he eats all the food they buy. I say that he’s never had a job or had bills to pay, ETC. This is usually in response to mom calling me lazy and saying that I need to do certain things for myself. As I cannot come up with a reasonable response to this, I will say, “Well, (insert name of cat,) is lazy. He never does anything. He sits around and makes you and (insert name of my stepfather during certain conversations,) pay the bills and buy the food, ETC and he never gives back to you. He doesn’t do his part. Why should I do mine?” Mom will almost always annoyingly reply, “He’s a cat!” I have to say that this type of conversation is unbefitting for a person with my level of knowledge. It’s downright childish and silly but sometimes I feel that way. However, I do believe it would be interesting to see how cats would react if they were able to talk. I think the first thing he would say would be, “Hi Jeff,” if he was able to talk.
